OPEN THEIR EYES

“Those who live on the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast that was, and is not, and will be present again.”

2 Kings 6:15-20

15 When the servant of the man of God got up early and went out, he discovered an army with horses and chariots surrounding the city. So he asked Elisha, “Oh, my master, what are we to do?”

16 Elisha said, “Don’t be afraid, for those who are with us outnumber those who are with them.”

17 Then Elisha prayed, “Lord, please open his eyes and let him see.” So the Lord opened the servant’s eyes. He looked and saw that the mountain was covered with horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

18 When the Arameans came against him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, “Please strike this nation with blindness.” So He struck them with blindness, according to Elisha’s word. 19 Then Elisha said to them, “This is not the way, and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will take you to the man you’re looking for.” And he led them to Samaria. 20 When they entered Samaria, Elisha said, “Lord, open these men’s eyes and let them see.” So the Lord opened their eyes. They looked and discovered they were in Samaria.

Watch this…

Revelation 9:11

They have a king over them, the angel of the abyss. His name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek, he has the name Apollyon.

This is Nimrod…

Revelation 17:8

8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up from the abyss and go to destruction. Those who live on the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast that was, and is not, and will be present again.

“Was, and is not, and is about to come up from the abyss”.

Lord, please open their eyes and let them see…

THE VOW AND ITS CONSEQUENCES

They walked to the little Church at what is now known as Ground Zero in New York City… It was there that they made solemn oaths, dedicating this Nation to Jehovah God and to his Son, Jesus Christ.

In 1776, the overwhelming majority of Americans were Christians. I would argue that the top leadership among the Founding Fathers were not but given the religion of the population, they were forced to acquiesce, at least to the external appearance of being “Christian”. Whatever the condition of their heart or the source of their inspiration, they played the Christian Game… at least in public.

On the Day this Nation was founded, the President and the members of Congress made solemn vows to the God of Heaven. They walked to the little Church at what is now known as Ground Zero in New York City… It was there that they made solemn oaths, dedicating this Nation to Jehovah God and to his Son, Jesus Christ.

The Church building in which they met is the only building at Ground Zero that was not damaged by the attack of 9/11/2001. It was saved by a Sycamore tree. The tree died but the building was spared.

The Government picked up on the curse of Isaiah 9:10, repeatedly reading it into the congressional record. They never read the context. Had they read it in context, they would have understood the curse they were calling down on themselves and the Nation.

Isaiah 9:

The Lord sent a message against Jacob;
it came against Israel.
All the people—
Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria—will know it.
They will say with pride and arrogance:
10 “The bricks have fallen,
but we will rebuild with cut stones;
the sycamores have been cut down,
but we will replace them with cedars.”
11 The Lord has raised up Rezin’s adversaries against him
and stirred up his enemies.
12 Aram from the east and Philistia from the west
have consumed Israel with open mouths.
In all this, His anger is not removed,
and His hand is still raised to strike.

This is very important to our thesis because, for all that modern Christians would do to downplay it, God takes ceremony and vows very seriously. Second Chronicles, chapter seven is much larger than the single verse usually quoted. In that chapter, we have the dedication of the Temple. There is a dedication, a promise and a threat. Most Christians are aware of the promise; very few understand the dedication or the threat.

The awesome dedication takes up the first eleven verses of the chapter. The promise starts with an awesome idea. God starts out, “If I close the sky so there is no rain, or if I command the grasshopper to consume the land, or if I send pestilence on My people…” What an idea. It is not the Devil who sends pestilence, it is God himself! The promise is found in six verses… twelve to eighteen. The threat takes up the rest of the chapter, verses nineteen through twenty-two. It is that threat that meets out purpose here.

2 Chronicles 7:

19 However, if you turn away and abandon My statutes and My commands that I have set before you and if you go and serve other gods and worship them, 20 then I will uproot Israel from the soil that I gave them, and this temple that I have sanctified for My name I will banish from My presence; I will make it an object of scorn and ridicule among all the peoples. 21 As for this temple, which was exalted, everyone who passes by will be appalled and will say: Why did the Lord do this to this land and this temple? 22 Then they will say: Because they abandoned the Lord God of their ancestors who brought them out of the land of Egypt. They clung to other gods and worshiped and served them. Because of this, He brought all this ruin on them.

The people did abandon their God. When He sent pestilence on the land, they did not humble themselves or pray; they hardened their hearts. This resulted in everything God threatened coming to pass. Jerusalem was destroyed, the Temple burned to the ground and the people who survived were marched off to Babylon as captives.

After the time for repentance had passed, Jeremiah, just weeks before the Babylonians attacked, prayed for the people. God’s response is found in Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 15:

Then the Lord said to me: “Even if Moses and Samuel should stand before Me, My compassions would not reach out to these people. Send them from My presence, and let them go. If they ask you, ‘Where will we go?’ you must tell them: This is what the Lord says:

Those destined for death, to death;
those destined for the sword, to the sword.
Those destined for famine, to famine;
those destined for captivity, to captivity.

I am within weeks of turning sixty-five. For my whole life, as far back as I can remember, people have been quoting 2 Chronicles 7:14:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

I cannot ever remember anyone preaching on or expositing the rest of the chapter. Having heard that verse for more than fifty-five years as a Christian, I must say that I have never seen God’s people, as a whole, on a national basis, humble themselves, pray or seek God’s Face.

Today, we have hardened our hearts. The vast majority of those who claim to be Christian are in clear and obvious apostasy. They no longer believe even the basics of the Gospel. To humble themselves, pray or seek God’s Face is totally out of the realm of possibility for them. They are fixated on the freedom to sin now and go to Heaven when they die. They are unaware of the threats or the obvious end to the road that they have chosen.

We are down… three strikes and we are out:

  1. Abortion (60 million children shredded and their blood poured out as a drink offering to Baal.)
  2. Sodomy (We have lifted up, glorified and written the sin of Sodom into our nations laws)
  3. The archway, the door to the Temple of Baal is being constructed, at our expense, in New York.

I can no longer pray for the United States of America… my prayers bounce of the ceiling… rejected by a Holy God. The threat of 2 Chronicles 7:19-22 is upon us and God is answering our prayers with the words of Jeremiah 15; He will not hear our prayer. It is way too late and Judgment is ordained.

You… You need to get right with God NOW!!!
