In The Image Of Adam

God created Adam and Eve in his image, but they fell. After that, all people were born in the image of a fallen Adam.

Genesis 5:3 When Adam had lived 130 years, he became the father of a son in his own likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth.

Adam and Eve were created as triune beings.. body, soul, and spirit. When they sinned, their spirits died and direct communication with God was lost, as was access to the garden.

When Seth was born, and all of Adam’s children, they were born, not in the image of God but in the image of Adam. They were binary beings, body, and soul; they had no spirit and were never able to communicate with God face to face…

Since then, all men have been born as binary beings, without the ability to communicate with God, nor any hope of ever dwelling with him… It is the spirit of a man that communicates with God and makes the prospect of dwelling with him eternally possible.

This is why Jesus said, “You must be born again…” born of the spirit. The person who has been “Born Again” is again a triune being… body soul, and spirit. Communication with God has been restored and eternal life with him, in his presence, has again become possible…

John 3:“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water (natural birth, ie the water breaks) and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
